SAFE recently passed 6K members – thank you! These memberships help pay for our educational mission and we hope the member commitment extends beyond just the many benefits we offer. As an educational not-for-profit, SAFE gives away a vast body of knowledge for FREE: daily Instagram content, weekly blogs, monthly SAFE Strategies – and the SAFE Toolkit App.
Consistent with our mission, this year we focused solely on our educator role at AirVenture, and renamed our booth (B-2081&2) “The Learning Zone.” This has been an amazingly rewarding week of sharing and learning from all the educators and aviators who stopped by. At one point we had 5 (very generous) DPEs in the booth sharing their knowledge and helping flight test applicants succeed in their pursuit of certificates and ratings. I did a mock CFI-I oral with Dana from Ohio this afternoon; she has her real checkride on Tuesday (follow our Instagram).

Our dinner was a great success (excellent food) with 160 people attending. Rich Stowell talked about his 9 Principles that formed the basis for the instruction at the Pilot Proficiency Center during AirVenture.
Death By Time Builder Coda
Hopefully, you are aware of the instructional tragedy Meg Godlewski wrote so eloquently about in her Flying Magazine article. The student pilot victim in that accident, Connor Quisenberry, had a dream of one day flying to Oshkosh. His close friend in Kentucky, Mason Rowe, honored this request in the only way possible by flying his picture to Oshkosh this year. We had Mason at our dinner on Thursday.
AirVenture Runway 5K
Fortunately, AirVenture was not all work in a hot hangar. We got out for a great runway excursion this morning as 1200 runners took over the showgrounds for a 5K this morning. Follow our Instagram for daily educational content and fun aviation stories/reels. See the video here.
